Vang Vieng Organic Farm

Who and what:

More a community development project than a farm, we provide employment, information and training to preserve traditional Lao farming practices. Our farm was founded to introduce organic farming methods in an area where chemicals and deforestation were ruining the land. Leading by example, we aim to show that organic methods can be profitable as well as healthy.

The experience:

Enjoy a meal at the Vang Vieng Organic Farm restaurant. The menu is extensive and uses only the freshest ingredients, including the legendary mulberry shakes. Buy packs of organically-grown products such as mulberry tea, organic coffee and hand-woven silk scarves, which enable local women to practice traditional crafts and make a living.

Vang Vieng is the perfect stop on an overland journey between Luang Prabang and Vientiane. Vang Vieng Organic Farm is a great place to begin your tubing adventure on the Nam Song River. Enjoy their organic products, including traditional Lao mulberry tea, as well as mulberry cake and mulberry crumble. It is also possible to volunteer to help out with English language practise for the staff and farmers.
